Barb Mendoza, Owner/Trainer
Barb Mendoza, owner of Fitness By Design, is a Gold Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and has her B.S. Degree in Exercise Science from Iowa State University. She has been in the fitness industry since 1989 and is recognized as an Elite Personal Fitness Trainer by the International Dance Exercise Association (IDEA). Over the years, Barb has motivated her clients to make healthy lifestyle changes involving exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction. She has experience training in a health club setting, clients’ homes, as well as the private studio.


Tim O’Neil, Trainer
Tim has his Exercise Science-Health Promotion Degree from Central College in Pella, where he participated in athletics all four years. Tim brings his work experience from the health club, hospital and corporate wellness settings. His certifications include the ACSM Health Fitness Instructor, the NASM Personal Trainer, and the ACE Group Fitness Instructor. He is currently the Wellness Manager at Meredith Corporation. As a professional in the fitness field, he has been able to touch many lives and make a positive difference for people of all ages. Tim believes that making gradual changes is the key to long-term success.


Barb Lucius, Trainer
Barb graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. degree in Exercise and Sports Science. She is a certified personal trainer through American Council on Exercise (ACE) and National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Barb has trained in private studios, health clubs and in top sports training facilities. She has helped people in a wide range of ages and fitness levels to achieve their health and fitness goals.


Nicole Erpelding, Trainer
Nicole is a '04 graduate from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion and an emphasis in Wellness. Her experience includes an internship under UNI's Head Strength and Conditioning Coach assisting with program implementation for a variety of sports teams and also working with a wide range of populations in a health club setting. She is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and enjoys helping clients reach and maintain their health and fitness goals.


Denise (Denny) Kigin, Trainer

Denny is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and American Council on Exercise (ACE) with 20 years experience as a personal trainer.  Denny owned/operated a private personal training facility in Chicago for 12 years.  She has a passion for helping clients reach their personal fitness goals and to teaching the benefits of manageable, healthy living.  Denny has worked with clients of all ages focusing on strength, flexibility, endurance and healthy lifestyles.  Each program is specifically designed to meet the unique needs and interests of the client.

She enjoys working one-on-one with people and is available to instruct and to encourage them through each work out, helping her clients get the most from their training sessions.


Marcia Fletcher, Pilates
Marcia is owner of Pilates, Tumbling and Dance. She received her B.S. Degree cum laude from Upper Iowa University and trained at Omaha Ballet and Creighton University. She is certified through the American Council on Exercise and also through the Stott Pilates program. Marcia is a member of the International Dance Exercise Association and has over thirty years of teaching experience. Currently, she teaches Pilates programs in mat and reformer. Hundreds of people have benefited from her instruction and hands-on work, which has received acclaim for both injury healing and prevention. Let Marcia help you develop a longer, leaner, stronger and more flexible body.


Mary St Onge, CYT, RYT-500 Yoga Teacher
Mary is a certified yoga therapist and registered yoga teacher with completion of 500 hours hatha yoga and 335 hours yoga therapy training. Registered through the International Association of Yoga Therapists and Yoga Alliance, Mary trained in Colorado and at White Lotus Foundation and Ananda Seva in California with world renowned yoga teachers.

Mary has taught Bikram, Hatha, Yin and Restorative yoga in Colorado, Minnesota and Iowa.  Her commitment to the healing path of yoga and her passion to her yoga teaching translate into a transformative experience for her students.  You will love the practical techniques that yoga provides to tone, strengthen and heal in a nurturing and personal environment.


Julie Rice, Yoga Teacher
Julie Rice has been practicing yoga for the past 8 plus years and teaching since 2005. She received teacher training through Yoga Fit and from a 4-month intensive training with her own teacher. In June 2009, she will finish a 200-hour teacher training program to complete her Yoga Alliance certification as a Registered Yoga Teacher. She has taught all level of students and loves to see each individual progress every time they come to their mat. Julie shares the passion and joy which she receives from her personal practice with each of her students, with attention to alignment, breath and ease in each and every moment.
