Barb Mendoza,
Owner/Trainer
Barb Mendoza, owner of Fitness By Design, is a Gold Certified Personal
Trainer through the American Council on Exercise and has her B.S. Degree
in Exercise Science from Iowa State University. She has been in the fitness
industry since 1989 and is recognized as an Elite Personal Fitness Trainer
by the International Dance Exercise Association (IDEA). Over the years,
Barb has motivated her clients to make healthy lifestyle changes involving
exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction. She has experience training
in a health club setting, clients’ homes, as well as the private
studio.
Tim
O’Neil, Trainer
Tim has his Exercise Science-Health Promotion Degree from Central College
in Pella, where he participated in athletics all four years.
Tim brings his work experience from the health club, hospital and corporate
wellness settings. His certifications
include the ACSM Health Fitness Instructor, the NASM Personal Trainer, and
the ACE Group Fitness Instructor. He is currently the Wellness Manager at Meredith Corporation. As a professional in the fitness field, he has been able
to touch many lives and make a positive difference for people of all ages.
Tim believes that making gradual changes is the key to long-term success.
Janelle
Lenz, Trainer
Janelle has her Health Promotion- Fitness Management Degree from Grand
View College. She is an AFAA Certified Personal Trainer. Janelle brings
both corporate wellness experience along with health club experience.
She instructs group exercise classes and personal trains at Wellmark Blue
Cross Blue Shield’s Well for Life Center. She is also the head trainer
at Snap Fitness in Ankeny. Janelle believes in creating a fun and motivating
atmosphere for her clients. She believes it is important to live a healthy
and active life style. She is dedicated to helping you achieve your wellness
and fitness goals.
Marcia
Fletcher, Pilates
Marcia is owner of Pilate, Tumbling and Dance. She received her B.S. Degree
cum laude from Upper Iowa University and trained at Omaha Ballet and Creighton
University. She is certified through the American Council on Exercise
and also through the Stott Pilates program. Marcia is a member of the
International Dance Exercise Association and has over thirty years of
teaching experience. Currently, she teaches Pilates programs in mat and
reformer. Hundreds of people have benefited from her instruction and hands-on
work, which has received acclaim for both injury healing and prevention.

body.
Mary
St Onge, Yoga
Mary is a nationally certified
yoga instructor registered with Yoga Alliance for completion of over 200
hours hatha yoga training. In addition, Mary attained certification for Therapeutic Yoga from White Lotus Foundation in 2007. She has taught Bikram, Hatha and Restorative
Yoga in Colorado and Minnesota. Mary’s commitment and passion to
her yoga teaching translate into a transformative experience for her students.
You will love the practical techniques that yoga provides to tone, strengthen
and heal in a nurturing and personal environment.
Sarah
O'Neil, Group Exercise
Sarah brings a wealth of experience including an Exercise Science-Physical
Education Degree from Central College. She participated in athletics at
Central and continues to stay active in recreational basketball and volleyball
leagues in Des Moines. She is an ACSM certified Health Fitness Instructor
and has health and fitness experience from both the educational and corporate
settings. She worked with students and staff at AIB College of Business
as Director of Activities and Recreational Programs for four years and
is currently a Wellness Specialist at EMC Insurance Companies.
Sarah enjoys teaching group exercise classes such as
kickboxing, bootcamp, step, resistance training and circuit classes. She
believes that working hard, adding variety to workouts and making fitness
fun is the key to staying on track and committed to fitness goals.
Mindy Cathcart,
Trainer Mindy has her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise
Science-Wellness from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. Her certifications
include the AFAA Personal Trainer, ACE group fitness instructor and she
is STOTT Pilates trained. Mindy currently is the assistant program manager
of Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Well for Life Center and brings
both corporate fitness experience as well as health club experience. She
currently teaches a variety of group fitness classes including step, boot
camp, resistance training, core conditioning, kick-boxing, circuit training
and Pilates mat classes. Mindy believes that fitness should be fun and
is committed to helping her clients achieve all their health and fitness
goals.
Kelly-Jo (KJ) Balignasay, Trainer
KJ has a BS in Exercise Science from Winona State University in Winona, MN. She is also a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Mercy College of Health Sciences. She is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Clinical Exercise Specialist and a Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant. Her experience includes training and instructing healthy and special populations in fitness centers and hospital wellness centers.
